There was an interesting discussion in one of the forums I visit about early helicopters in action. Somebody pointed that although rarely depicted by Hollywood (except maybe in “Were Eagles Dare”), the Germans were indeed working on helicopters during WWII. Here is a YouTube video of an Fa 223 Drache (Dragon) in action as a cargo (with sling) and medevac (circa 1942).
