Help the Haitian people

The devastating earthquake that occurred in Haiti this past Tuesday has left millions suffering and in desperate need of help. The Red Cross estimates as of today 50,000+ casualties and the number will probably climb.

They need donations of goods such as:

Sheets
Blankets
Towels
Tents
Tarps
Candles
Flashlights
Flashlight Batteries - D cells
Matches / lighters
Lanterns + lantern oil
Rubbing alcohol
Hydrogen peroxide
Iodine
Bandages
Gauze
Aspirin
Soap
Baby diapers
FOOD:
Canned food with TAB OPENINGS not requiring can openers - soup, tuna, etc
Energy bars
Bottled water
Can openers

but what they need most, and the easiest to give, is money.

Please donate what you can, but be sure to donate to established organizations, such as the Red Cross. At times like this, scammers come out of the woodwork to make a fast buck. Don’t be fooled.

Please click here to got to the Red Cross website,

or you also can text "Haiti" to 90999 to donate $10 to the International Response Fund as described here http://www.redcross.org/portal/site/en/menuitem.94aae335470e233f6cf911df43181aa0/?vgnextoid=15c0c5a210826210VgnVCM10000089f0870aRCRD.

The money will go directly to relief efforts in Haiti. Or call 1-800-Red-Cross.

There are other verified, legitimate charities accepting donations for relief efforts in Haiti listed here http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/01/13/haiti.earthquake.how.to.help/index.html.

Make sure to avoid charity fraud as described here http://www.scambusters.org/haitiearthquakescams.html.

Thank you.
