Happy birthday Mr. Dawkins!

Richard Dawkins, British ethologist, evolutionary biologist and one of the best writers of our time, whose books I really like, has a birthday today. Happy 72nd Mr. Dawkins!

We remember Carl Sagan today

on the 16th anniversary of his passing.

We remember you fondly. Maybe I’ll watch Cosmos again. Or better yet, re-read The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, in my opinion his best book, and I read many of them.

He was a great author and journalist, albeit opinionated, who made  a mark in this world. We are sorry you died so young.

Paul Kurtz (1925-2012)

Paul Kurtz passed away this weekend. He was a prominent skeptic and secular humanist. Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Kurtz founded Prometheus Books. He was also the founder and past chairman of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (formerly the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP)), the Council for Secular Humanism, and the Center for Inquiry.

I met him in the early 2000's in an event in Ft. lauderdale. He was such a nice and eloquent man. He will be sorely missed.
