"A common refrain among the Religious Right: The 1950s were a golden age to them; it’s a period worth replicating today. In 2016, 70% of white evangelicals told Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) that they believe the country has changed for the worse since the 1950s. They were the only group that felt that way. Black Protestants, Latino Catholics, religious minorities and religiously unaffiliated Americans all said the country has improved since the 1950s."
