A trip to Mt. Dora

Last weekend we visited Mt. Dora, a quaint little town in Central Florida, a little north of Orlando. It is a beautiful town in the hilly area of Florida (yes, Florida has some hills, albeit small). Mt. Dora  sits at an elevation of 144 ft and even has some streets going up and down a slope.

It has a beautiful downtown area full of shops and cafes. No chain stores here. Not even Starbucks. A very  nice atmosphere and nice restaurants.

We stayed at a great Bed and Breakfast, the Adora Inn which was fabulous. A renovated old house (built in 1916) with the hosts, Arthur and John very pleasant and knowledgeable. Both are trained chefs and the breakfast was to die for.

Mt. Dora sits on Dora Lake, from which it takes its name.

View of one of the buildings of the Lakeside Inn, the oldest hotel in town, now in the US National Register of Historic Places.
