A trip to Mt. Dora
Last weekend we visited Mt. Dora, a quaint little town in Central Florida, a little north of Orlando. It is a beautiful town in the hilly area of Florida (yes, Florida has some hills, albeit small). Mt. Dora sits at an elevation of 144 ft and even has some streets going up and down a slope.
It has a beautiful downtown area full of shops and cafes. No chain stores here. Not even Starbucks. A very nice atmosphere and nice restaurants.
We stayed at a great Bed and Breakfast, the Adora Inn which was fabulous. A renovated old house (built in 1916) with the hosts, Arthur and John very pleasant and knowledgeable. Both are trained chefs and the breakfast was to die for.
Mt. Dora sits on Dora Lake, from which it takes its name.
View of one of the buildings of the Lakeside Inn, the oldest hotel in town, now in the US National Register of Historic Places.

Harold Lloyd's "Safety Last"- 1923 (excerpt)
“Safety Last” one of Harold Lloyd’s most famous films.
The 12-story Bolton Building” shown in the movie is actually the old International Savings & Exchange Bank Building in Los Angeles (demolished around 1954).

Apollo 11 lifted off today in 1969
Today in 1969, Apollo 11 lifted off carrying first humans to fly from the Earth to the Moon. Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin, along with the 400,000 men and women who worked on Project Apollo, forever proved that the word "impossible" has no place in our dictionary.

A spectacular example of Sammy Davis at his best. Here doing remarkable impressions of Rat Pack friends Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra, as well as others. Sit back and enjoy! (Corporal Henshaw)
