Flickr: Photo tool could fix bad images

A BBC article comments on a new technology that would allow people to fix their photos by removing unwanted objects using an algorithm developed at Carnegie Mellon University.

Digital photographers could soon be able to erase unwanted elements in photos by using tools that scan for similar images in online libraries.
What they are saying is that the system would look at a collection of similar Flickr photos to find a suitable portion to extract and replace into yours.

As a photographer I find this notion disturbing. What are the copyright implications?

I never liked Flickr (I use Smugmug for my gallery), and now I like it even less.
